Mountain Man's Baby: A Best Friend's Brother Romance Page 5

  “That’s it?” she asked.

I ignored the prick of pain as she confirmed what I was dishing out.

  “That’s it,” I said.

A grin spread across her face before she fisted my shirt. She pulled me back to her lips, my arms enveloping her in a tight embrace. I pulled her off the wall and covered her back, flexing my muscles just for her against her back. She groaned down the back of my throat. Her knees grew weak as I held her up. I brushed the muscles of my arms against her back, feeling her tremble.

She sucked on my lower lip, and my cock leapt to life.

“Upstairs. Room on left,” she whispered.

She jumped into my arms and wrapped her legs around me. My hands fell to her ass, gripping her cheeks and pulling her closer. I walked through the house, her lips peppering my cheek and my neck with kisses. It was hard to focus on the space around us when Jenny’s warm lips nibbled at my shoulder. I stumbled us up the steps and charged into the room on the left. I kicked the damn door closed with my foot, then strode for the bed.

I wanted a repeat of last night’s performance. I wanted the magnificence of our first encounter to bleed over into our second. And our third. And our fourth.

If I was ever so lucky.

Jenny eased my shirt over my head before her nails raked down my back. I sat her up and undressed her, sliding her shirt and bra off. Our lips collided and our tongues intertwined as she rolled me over, pressing my back against the bed. Her soft kisses pressed against my chest, my nipples, each of my abs. Her fingertips danced softly down my torso as she knelt between my legs, making quick work of getting me out of the rest of my clothes.

  “Shit,” I whispered.

I jumped when Jenny’s lips touched down to my thigh. But nothing could have prepared me for the electric jolt of her lips around my cock.

  “Fuck!” I exclaimed.

And as she sucked me down the back of her throat, my hand flew to her hair. I wrapped her braid around my fist and dug my heels into the floor. I raised my hips to her face and felt her nose nuzzle my skin as her throat jumped around my cock. My release started to spill down her throat as she hummed and giggled, forcing broken groans up the back of mine.

  “Holy—yes, Jenny,” I hissed.

Then, my back fell to the bed as her cheeks hollowed out.

  Chapter 10

  Jenny

I sucked on his cock as it dripped into my stomach. His legs flexed for me. His hand twisted into my braid. I swallowed him whole and gagged when his cock grazed the crook of my throat. Over and over again, he pulled back and filled me. My hands curled into his thighs. I felt the strength of his grasp remind me of who he was and where I was as he commanded my face. My tits pressed against his strong legs. His hair tickled my engorged nipples. I moaned around him, and spit dribbled down his shaft. I slid my hands up his pelvis and his torso, trying to feel as much of him as I could.

Because I knew it would be the last time.

“That’s it. Suck that cock, sweet girl. Fucking hell, you’re amazing.”

Nathan’s words fell heavily onto my ears. I bobbed my head faster, lapping at the vein protruding underneath his cock. His orgasm painted my cheeks. His size bulged against my teeth. His hand gripped my braid tighter, holding my face to his pelvis as he dove down my throat.

  “Oh, fuck,” he growled.

Without warning, he tugged at my head. My lips released his dick with a pop, and he pulled me up his body. I collapsed against him, my mouth swollen with my efforts. And when our lips collided, his arms wrapped around me and held me tight to him. He rolled us over, splaying me out on my back as he ground his rock-hard cock into my jeans.

“To hell with these,” he murmured.

He rushed down my body and relieved me of the rest of my clothes. I scooted up the bed, making my way toward the pillows. Nathan crawled onto the bed, stalking me like an animal. His wild hazel eyes matched the dark smattering of freckles over his nose, and I watched him as he approached me and hovered over my body, laying me back and falling between my legs.

  “Take me,” I whispered.

I ran my fingers through his hair and pulled his lips back to mine. He slowly eased himself into my body, taking great care in making sure I adjusted. My walls spasmed around him as my body opened at his intrusion. I moaned and whimpered against his lips, my legs shaking as I wrapped them around his calves.

“Take your time. I’m not going anywhere,” he said.

I didn’t know why those words did what they did, but I felt a knot form in my throat. I felt close to him, closer than I’d ever felt to a man before. And that scared me. This was only a hookup. This wasn’t anything else. It couldn’t be anything else. Not with the plan I had.

But as Nathan pulled back and gazed into my eyes, I fell deeper into the beauty of his world.

With every roll of his hips, I matched him. Rock for rock. Thrust for thrust. I raised my hips as my pussy swallowed his cock, my juices dripping down my ass crack. Nathan supported himself on his forearms. His eyes danced between mine. I gasped for air and shook against his body, raking my nails up and down his arms. His muscles bulged and flexed for me. I felt them rolling and pulsing every time he sank his cock into me.

I buzzed with electricity and hummed with a fire that refused to be put out.

  “Faster, Nathan.”

  “Whatever you want, Jenny.”

The bed rocked as he picked up the pace. I whimpered and gasped, trying to catch my breath with his. I placed wet kisses across his cheeks. I kissed every damn freckle on his handsome fucking face. I ran my fingers through his hair. I pulled his face into the crook of my neck. He groaned and grunted, his cock growing against my walls as he kissed my skin and nibbled at my pulse point.

“That’s it. Tilt those hips toward me,” he said.

“Holy… yes. Oh, yes. Right there. What—I—right there. That’s it. That’s the spot. Nathan. Nathan. Nathan!”

His cock grazed something inside me I’d never felt before. Something that freed me from the shackles I used to hold myself back. I wrapped myself around him and hung on for dear life as his arm arched my hips closer to him. I felt my pussy open up and the rest of him slide in. And when our bodies fully connected, my eyes rolled into the back of my head.

  “Nathan!” I wailed.

  “My holy heaven, Jenny.”

I choked out his name as my body spiraled. My pussy clamped down onto him, massaging his cock as his pelvis stilled against mine. Nathan laid his teeth into my shoulder, biting down and teasing me with his tongue. Goose bumps erupted over me from head to toe as my body ignited and burned at his stake. The world fell away. Colors sizzled and dimmed from view. I felt him filling me and pouring out of me, marking me and dirtying me in ways he wanted.

  In ways I wanted.

We collapsed against each other, and his hands slid down my arms. Our fingers intertwined to find their own peace. Every part of me shook as his cock stayed sheathed between my legs. And I could have sworn I felt the weight of the world ease off my shoulders just the tiniest bit.

Then, my eyes came into focus and I remembered where we were.

“You should go before Amber comes back,” I said.

  “What?” Nathan said breathlessly.

I pushed him off me instead of cuddling into him. We had to get him out of here. I pulled away from his cock, feeling empty as our juices dripped down my thighs. I scrambled to get my clothes on while tossing Nathan his. And when I turned around, he looked at me as if I had grown a third head.

  He was also still naked.

“What are you waiting for? Come on. She’s going to be back soon,” I said.

Nathan’s eyes dropped down my body before he shook his head. He slid from my bed and pulled his clothes on, and then I led him down the stairs. I practically pushed him through the house and out the front door, not allowing him to get a word in edgewise. And as my knees quaked and my hands shook, I shut the door and leaned against it.<

Putting a barrier between us as my eyes filled with tears.

“You’re doing the right thing,” I said breathlessly.

I stayed in my room the rest of the day. Amber came and went. We talked a bit, then went our separate ways. I didn’t even think to check up on Sara or call Luke’s room. Instead, I fell asleep in a pillow of my own tears. I woke up the next morning aching in all the best places, and more conflicted than I’d ever been in my life. I couldn’t continue like this. I couldn’t see him again. No matter how much I wanted and no matter how good he made me feel, it wasn’t possible.

Because I couldn’t fall for him any harder than I already had.

I didn’t pull out of my haze until I went to go have lunch with the girls. There was a note taped to the door with my name on it. I peeled it off the door and opened it up, my brow furrowing as I read the words.

You could have at least told me what the hell was going on before you kicked me out.

I looked around to see if I could find Nathan. It was the only person that made sense with regard to the verbiage of the letter. But I didn’t see him anywhere. Told him what was going on? What the fuck was he talking about?

I jammed the letter into my pocket and brushed it off as I made my way to lunch. But the note and the events of last night occupied my mind. At least, until Amber spoke.

“So, what happens with you and Luke now?” she asked.

“Luke was spying on me for my brother. So, nothing happens now,” Sara said.

“I think you’re being too hard on him. I saw the way he sprang to your rescue. How worried he was about you on that mountain. I’d kill to have a knight in shining armor like him,” Amber said.

I snickered. “First knight ever to probably slay a dragon while on the back of a snowmobile.”

Sara giggled and I watched her contemplate Amber’s words. I put my fork down and looked at her, slowly putting the pieces in place. If Sara was this concerned about seeing Luke again, then that meant something happened between the two of them.

“Nathan’s really pissed,” Sara said, giggling.

Yep. Something definitely happened between the two of them. Which explained the note he left for me on the damn door.

“Yeah. I know,” I said flatly.

Thankfully, the conversation centered on Luke and Sara. Because I sure as hell wasn’t in the mood to talk about anything. The note was burning a hole in my pocket, and I wanted to go back to the room. Well, that was one way to get Nathan off my back. Pretend I knew my best friend was fucking around with his best friend.

Why did that bother me, though? Knowing Nathan was off my back?

Oh, yeah. Because I fell for the asshole.

A waiter came and interrupted us with a beautiful bouquet of flowers. It didn’t shock me, either. Especially when Sara told us they were from Luke. But it did make me feel like I was missing out on something in my life. Something… more. And while I watched Sara get swept away in the romance of it all, especially with the delivery of some much-needed crutches, I knew romance wasn’t something I could afford to consider.

But if I stayed one more night at this fucking lodge, I’d indulge my desires again with Nathan.

  I knew I would.

I couldn’t risk it. I played along with the excitement as the three of us headed back to the house. I played the supportive best friend while we rummaged through our things, trying to find something for Sara to wear for Luke. And after giving Sara makeup tips and helping her into the green dress she was going to borrow from me for the evening, I started packing up my things.

  With Amber nowhere in sight.

I dragged my things out of the house and hoisted them onto the golf cart. We hadn’t used the damn thing once since we’d been there. But I tracked down the keys and cranked it up. I drove my shit up to the lodge and parked the cart, then went inside and talked with the front desk.

“May I help you?” the attendant asked.

“Yes, is there a bus running sometime this evening to Denver?” I asked.

“Yes, ma’am. There is. Are your accommodations not up to par? Is there anything I can help you with?”

It’s not the bed. It’s the man.

“I’d just like a ticket to Denver, please,” I said.

And after whipping out my debit card to drain the last of my money away, I walked my stuff out to the bus stop and waited.

Time to go back to school and forget about this shit.

  Chapter 11

  Nathan

I stormed out of Luke’s hotel suite in a rage. I was angry at him. At my sister. But most of all, with myself. I knew my best friend was a good guy. I knew he’d look after Sara and take care of her. But I was still fuming. I was irate at the fact that Luke was infatuated with my damn sister. Why? Why the hell did that anger me so much? And why was I upset that Sara liked him back? She could do far worse, in my opinion. Luke was an upstanding guy. Put together. Planning for the future. Had a good head on his shoulders.

All the things I didn’t have.

I strode up to my room and started jamming my things into my bag. I didn’t want to stay here a second longer. And as I did, her smell came back to me. Her eyes. Her body. The softness of her skin against mine. I closed my eyes and replayed everything I had experienced with Jenny in my room. In her room. And it ripped me back into a world I wanted to be in.

A world where I wasn’t angry. Where I wasn’t a pathetic excuse for a man that didn’t have a savings, a plan for the future, or even a decent house to live in.

“You’re a sorry man,” I murmured to myself.

As I packed my bags, I couldn’t stop thinking about her. I couldn’t get her out of my mind. So, I set my packed bags off to the side and started for the house the girls were in. I rode down the elevator, bracing myself for the cold outside. If Sara and Luke had the luck of the lodge on their side, then maybe I did, too. Maybe Jenny would hear me out when I asked her for something a little less casual than what we were doing now.

I didn’t think it was possible, but I was ready to give this relationship thing a try with Jenny.

Yes, there was a lot stacked against me. I had a lot of fucking growing up to do. But, Jenny was worth it. The woman I couldn’t get out of my head and out of my heart was worth it. And as I stepped off the elevator and into the lobby, I began rehearsing a speech I knew I’d need the second I looked into those beautiful eyes she had.

Then, I felt something wrap around my arm.

  “Nathan, we need to talk.”

Luke’s voice hit my ears and I tensed.

“What?” I asked, ripping my arm from his grasp.

“Look, I don’t want to piss you off. You’re my best friend, and I care about you.”

  “And?”

“And I want you to know that despite all that, I’m not backing down with Sara. I’m interested in your sister, and I want to pursue it. I know you don’t get that. I know you haven’t ever been in this situation before. But I’m going to see what becomes of it.”

His words hurt. Even my best fucking friend didn’t find me capable of this shit. Was I making a wrong decision, asking Jenny to be something more with me?

Was I really not capable of this?

  “You’re a good man,” I said.

  “I appreciate that,” Luke said.

“What I don’t want to see is a good man hurting my sister. I’ve worked very hard to vet the caliber of guys that come into her life. Whether she likes it or not. And while I know you’re a good man, I know you’re also a man.”

“I’d never use her like that. Ever, Nathan.”

  “I know,” I said.

And deep down, I really did know.

  “So, does that mean…?”

I sighed. “It means that you better take care of her and she better not have one damn gripe about you. Otherwise, you’re dead.”

Luke grinned. “Thank you, Nathan. Seriously.”

“Now, if you’ll excuse me, I ne
ed to go find Jenny. I’m sure she’ll want to know about… all this.”

  “Oh, Jenny left.”

  I froze. “What?”

“Yeah. The front desk told me she caught the bus back into Denver last night.”

It felt like someone had wrapped their hand around my intestines and squeezed.

  “She’s not here?” I asked.

  “No. Why? What’s up?”

Usually, it was the girl who couldn’t get enough of me. Usually, I was the one running away. But instead, the tables had turned. Jenny was running from me, and I couldn’t blame her. I was the last man on earth any girl would want to take home. Hell, if my own damn sister brought a guy home like me, I’d lay him flat out onto the pavement before he stepped foot into my house.

This is for the better, Nathan.

“Nothing. Just figured she’d want the juicy gossip on her friend,” I said, grinning.

“You’re an asshole, you know that?” Luke asked, chuckling.

But I didn’t want to be an asshole any longer.

Luke stuck out his hand for me to shake, but I pulled him into a hug. I clapped his back and sighed, then nodded my approval at him. I sent him off back to his room as I stood there in the lobby, at a loss for what to do.

Jenny was gone, and everything felt fucked.

  Chapter 12

  Jenny

  One Month Later

  “Oh, no,” I breathed.

I started down at the stick in my hand, caught between horror and absurdity.

  “No, no, no, no, no.”

I ripped the other test open and stuck it into the cup I had peed in. Life had stopped. Time had stopped as I sat there on that toilet. It wasn’t possible. It had to be a false positive. I was only months away from graduation. Away from all my plans finally culminating into the one thing I’d been working toward for years.

I had to be in an alternate reality.
